Rebecca’s entrance into health arena started in 1996 when she began studying Health Information Management at Sydney University. Rebecca then started working in a community pharmacy in Bondi Beach in 1997, studied Massage in 1998 at Nature Care College Sydney and Western herbal medicine in 1999.
She was introduced to the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) when working within a public hospital as a pharmacy technician making chemotherapy infusions. Her supervising oncology pharmacist would discuss the origins of some western pharmaceutical medications whose active ingredients were isolated from Chinese herbs.
The increasing incidence of chronic and complex health conditions in hospital and community pharmacy settings ignited her desire to formally study more holistic approaches to health. Rebecca experienced the positive effects of acupuncture for an injury that she sustained which prompted her to investigate this intriguing ancient medicine.
Traditional Chinese Medicine seemed to tick all of the holistic boxes - extensive and dynamic approaches to Bodywork - acupuncture, moxibustion, acupressure, massage, cupping, guasha, dermal rollers; Internal medicine : Chinese herbal medicine and teas, Chinese dietary therapy, Breathwork - Tai Chi and Qigong and Lifestyle: observing the wisdom of Daoism and placing importance on living in harmony with nature and observing the universal laws. She began her studies in 2002 at the University of Technology in Sydney and graduated from 4 years of full time study in 2005 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Rebecca travelled to China and Vietnam where she observed the extensive application of Traditional Chinese Medicine in hospital and private clinic settings. In 2007 she completed a short internship at Zheijiang Provincial Hospital in Hangzhou, China. She has worked as an acupuncturist at sea for 8 months in 2008, introducing acupuncture to passengers and crew cruising through the Caribbean and Europe.
In 2009 Rebecca returned to her hometown of Orange in New South Wales to be surrounded by the fresh mountain air, colourful seasons, fresh local produce and peaceful lifestyle of the Central West with her partner and two children.
Rebecca is committed to refining her skills and continuing her studies through informal and formal study methods along with being mentored by senior colleagues in the industry.
